"Lake Sunset"

Comet hunting turned up empty-handed for me. I went out for about 3 evenings and finally threw in the proverbial towel. The good news is I was equipped for night shots, had the tripod, and my cell phone was set up for remote shooting. It’s a pretty cool tool going through the Canon App.

Optimal Comet-time was sunset until about an hour after. I was there early with this shot being at 4:39 PM. Technically, everything is wrong. No detail. Filled-in shadows and the sun on the verge of burning out. The color tones were burnt out as well.

With not much work Lightroom I was able to bring the RAW image into its reality.  Sky and clouds are glowing, highlights on the water are sparkling and the water has a sort of windblown shape.  The image is likeable as it has some feeling and moodiness.

Real-life photographs are situational. Like life, we need to be flexible and adapt.  I was unhappy I missed getting a shot of the comet. But as Alexander Graham Bell said - "When one door closes, another opens. Cheers!!
