Travel Shots - Capturing Motion
In this example we used a different process to create the motion. Rather than move the camera we mount it on a tripod. The strategy is to slow down the camera shutter so the action is moving faster than the shutter.

Image Matting
Visualize our finished images with matting and framing. To some it makes a big difference in their selection process. If you are a fan of matting, as am I, it helps separate the image from the surroundings and establish a presence.

What we saw when taking this shot was a feeling of motion. To capture it a technique called panning or moving the camera with the motion was used. In this case the gull is the subject and panning with it creates motion and the resulting blur in the background.

Why Travel Photography?
While the phrases origin is unknown “Every Picture Tells A Story” , first notable commercial usage was in Kidney Pill Ads in 1902. And in 1971, Rod Stewart's album of the same name crushed it with hits including Maggie May and Reason to Believe. With a goal of creating a tagline we looked inward to answer the question – Why do we do travel photography? After realizing it was a big question with a bigger answer, we drilled it down to the following 10 ideas: Become a Globa

Understanding Frescoes: A Journey Through Art and History
You hear about frescos when traveling Europe and understand they are art, but what exactly are they? Fresco is technique artist use and is employed in creating large-scale mural paintings. The method starts with applying wet-lime plaster to the wall or ceiling. (Wet-lime is mix of slaked lime, sand and water.) Port Wine - who new?
Port Wine has not been part of the norm in our household. Why, not really sure. As we hiked the Douro River Valley and its Vineyards we learned about the area and its main products - tourism and Port Wine. Before the hike we mistakenly thought of Port as red wine, only to learn of its both white and tawny varieties. Tawny is red wine that as it ages in oak barrels turns brownish-amber. Photography is enlightening in many ways. Putting aside it's art and science, photogr

Castellammare di Stabia
That's the view from the roadside restaurant at diner time in the Castellammare di Stabia. The island is the edge of Capri, beautiful place unto itself. We are looking out at the Gulf of Naples. Another angle and we have a fantastic broadside of Mt Vesuvius. Not the most nameworthy spot but the city is a comune, Italian for self governing municipality, of Naples and resides on the northern edge of the Sorrento Peninsula. Castellammare is Italian and means "castle by the

Lets talk about Street Photography
Everyone's buzzing about street photography, but what is it really? What sets a street photo apart from just a random snapshot? The main thing with street photography is catching candid moments in public places. By capturing these spontaneous moments, photographers can turn a picture into a story. Is it just a nice shot, or does it tell a story, make you think, ask questions, or even reflect? Street Photography is all about city life and is similar to photojournalism becaus

Boston Waterfront – Historic timeline highlights
During the 18th Century the Port of Boston, centered on Long Wharf, was North America’s busiest port. From 1801 to 1974, Boston was home to one of the oldest shipbuilding sites for the US Navy. The main shipyard was in Charlestown, with extra locations in Chelsea, East Boston, and South Boston. Benevento - Italy's Witch City
Growing up in Massachusetts, we hear about the infamous Salem Witch Trials in elementary school. Salem whose nick name is "The Witch City" goes crazy at Halloween. The witch trials themselves happened in 1692. Salem is a popular spot at Halloween. It gets crowded and hard to access as 3 of my children live either in Salem or nearby. This year on the second leg to our European Trip, my wife and I visited Benevento Italy. The reason is my family on the Pesaturo side has so
