Big Ben has got to be amongst the top photo spots in the world but I couldn't find the exact number. And there are so many angles for such a handsome building. This shot was taken right near the appropriately named London Eye. Its that Ferris Wheel you see in photos of London that offers spectacular views. The view from the Eye is spectacular but the ground level photos worked a bit better without any reflections and glare.
It was 2 in the afternoon in June of 2024 and although sunset was after 9 PM, the shadows were a little long. The lighting on Big Ben and House of Parliament tell the story. Afternoon light on the sunny side and shadows beginning on the backside.
Camera settings were f/8, 1/320 sec and ISO 100. We added some contrast in Post Processing as well as the vignetting to accentuate the focal point and playing off the perspective of looking at Big Ben from the "Eye" of London.
Check out my website for shot of London, other parts of Europe and the US. New material is added consistently. There's a Contact Form if you have any questions or requests.
