"Riverside #2"

Exploring the coastline in October revealed unexpected autumn beauty. It was a productive day for a visit to the Parker River Wildlife Refuge near Plum Island, capturing more than my share of good shots. The day showcased ideal colors, textures, backgrounds, and skies, creating a picture-perfect setting.

In the summertime, this shot may seem dull due to its different shades of green and lack of depth. Enhancing the color, sharpness, and details can give and image an artificial look. Sometimes, the same image with good composition with lighting can have more impact in black and white rather than color. Black and white photography inherently transforms into a type of abstract, utilizing light and shadows to evoke feelings and emotions.

The settings for the day were simple: aperture priority set at f/8, ISO 100, and a shutter speed of 1/250 for this shot. It was nothing elaborate, just reliable. What catches my eye in this photo is the vibrant autumn color palette. Using a black and white approach working the highlights, shadows and textures really helped to bring the image to life. I hope you enjoy it!
