Venice 2023

Venice is a unique and magical place. Just getting to Venice by train and the "last mile" by water taxi is an experience. The Piazza San Marco (St Marks Square) is an experience unto itself. Saint Mark's Basilica dominates the piazza. You get around in Venice by taking a gondola, similar to taking a taxi or uber in other typical cities. In 2023 when we were there ti was Repubblica Day, the 75th anniversary of Italy becoming a republic. Its a massive event as after the Roman Empire fell, Italy became a land of multiple kingdoms and power struggles. Technically, Italy is a young country.
